Bohmer-AG Generators. Any good?
Yes, Bohmer-AG produces good value-for-money generators that can serve you well, providing reliable energy when outdoors.
As with all products on online marketplaces, you will find mixed reviews, but overall, the Bohmer-AG generators we have checked online come with an average of 4.5 stars and above, which is good going.
Generators can be decisive as we all have our expectations and experiences that guide us when buying a generator.
For example, if you have never used or purchased a generator and come across one advertised for a few hundred pounds that claim to be silent, you would expect it to be. Then likely feel let down when you crank it up, and it sounds like the next-door neighbour’s lawnmower.
On the other hand, if you know what to expect, you wouldn’t expect it to be totally silent, not for the money it was advertised for, anyway.
The best you can hope for in that kind of price range would be a generator that produces less than, say, 59 dB.
No one would blame the person who’s feeling let down with their purchase for running up the stairs to the computer room to write a bad review.
But that review does not necessarily mean it was a bad generator. It just means it didn’t fit the buyer’s expectations.
Doing research and setting your expectations will help you choose which generator is best for you. I guess that’s why you’re reading this.
A long-winded explanation, but I hope you get the picture.
Anyway, Who Make Bohmer-AG Generators?
You may be surprised to find out that the company is not a German company as the name may suggest. It seems that the company behind Bohmer-AG were wise in their approach and decided to create a brand that could be tied to the common belief that products from Germany are well made.
Bohmer-AG generators, from what we could find, are made in China. I can’t say I’m surprised as almost everything we buy is made in China. But the name sure does give the generators more of a higher-end impression. I guess it’s the reason they are good value for money.
Here are some of their popular generators:
Böhmer-AG W4500i Petrol Inverter Generator 1900w

The W4500i comes with a 1900W startup/ 1700 constant power output, delivered through dual 240v outlets and a 12 DC output.
One tank of fuel will get you roughly six hours of continuous run time which is more than reasonable at this price point.
It comes with the Gen-III quick start recoil mechanism, which means it should start easily. I read one review where some said they got a two-year-old to start one.
The w400i weighs only 21.5 kilos and comes with a noise rating of 59dB.
There is an advanced overload detection system that shuts the generator down automatically in the event of a power overload.
There’s also a low oil protection system that shut will shut down the generator when the oil level is dangerously low.

Böhmer-AG 8000W-E Petrol Generator 7.5Kw

The Bohmer-AG 8000W-E is a big step up.
It comes with a 420cc, 13 HP air-cooled Bohmer-AG engine that is easy to get going with its electric key start.
As the name suggests, it comes with an 8000W startup/7500 constant power output. There’s one 240v outlet, one 32 Amp, and a 12 DC.
This generator comes with a very respectable 16 hours run time on one tank of fuel making it a good choice for commercial settings. Although you will need to check the wattage of your equipment to make sure there’s enough power.
Because if your equipment wattage rating is higher than the generators, the overload detection system will kick in and shut off the power.
As with all Bohmer-AG Generators on the list, it comes with a low oil protection system that shuts down the engine when the oil level is too low. Not enough oil can seriously harm the engine. So this is a helpful feature.
The high-quality copper wound motor is made to last and helps the generator perform well while providing a reliable source of power when outdoors.
The frame and body are well built, and it looks like the generator will withstand a good amount of abuse.
Working Out Wattage Requirements
For each appliance, identify how many watts it requires and add 20% for resistive loads. And add 50% for inductive loads.
Load Types
Resistive loads- no moving parts such as kettles, light bulbs, and heaters.
Inductive loads – moving parts such as motors, air compressors, and pressure washers).
Examples
1000W heater – 1200W generator
2000W pressure washer – 3000W generator

There are a lot more Bohmer-AG generators on Amazon that offer good value for money. And most, if not all, come with a 2-year warranty. It’s always good to see a company stand behind its products and back their quality with a good warranty.
