If you are looking for a petrol generator that comes with a pure sine wave inverter, the Bohmer-ag w4500i may be what you need. For the price, it’s hard to see how it can be beaten and the technology on offer is quite remarkable at this price point.

If you want to plug in your computer or any other sensitive electronic equipment while out camping in the wilderness, you’re in luck. That’s because the ag-w4500i comes with THD, which stands for total harmonic distortion. And this technology allows you to plug in your prized possessions with peace of mind.

It’s nice to have the meanest-looking generator at the campsite.

The plastic enclosure seems to be fairly durable. I’m sure this generator can take a few knocks and be fine. However, I don’t think it would be suitable for heavy-duty or industrial use.

The Generac generator is a great machine for backup power, and camping. The power outlets have weatherproof protective covers, as do the switches. This is a great outdoor generator, however, it’s not safe to use in the rain or snow, though, like any portable generator.

The 3HP engine is a reliable and efficient powerplant that meets all modern emission standards. It is an environmentally friendly generator with a reasonable fuel economy that provides a respectable runtime – up to 6-hours from the 4-liter petrol tank.

This is the best runtime offered by the manufacturer. This means that if you want good fuel economy, the power output would need to be less than 25%, with the economy mode engaged.

When using 50% of your maximum power, an average load of 850W and a full tank lasts 3 – 4 hours, that’s not bad. It’s not great, but it’s acceptable for most people.

The alternator is better than most generators. It has copper windings, which helps it generate more power. The peak power generation is 2000W, and the continuous running power is 1700W.

The AC power is supplied by a pure sine wave inverter. This means that the power is clean and has low harmonic distortion. If you use electronic devices, this is a great benefit. 

Almost everything we use now has electrical circuitry, thus an inverter generator is almost necessary for safe portable energy.

The weight of the machine has been kept to a minimum by eliminating a starter motor and battery. I don’t believe that this detracts significantly from the overall value. 

The recoil starter on Generation III is fantastic, and the engine starts instantly and effortlessly with just a little input from you. A manual choke positioned near the on/off switch, and a fuel shut-off dial on the front panel make starting handy.

The W4500i includes a single 230V three-pin UK plug and a 12VDC battery charging port. The inclusion of a 12V outlet is particularly useful since the Böhmer-AG W4500i is one of the best generators for camping and boats in the UK. 

It means you can charge your deep cycle leisure batteries directly from the generator.

Conclusion —

The W4500i petrol generator is a strong competitor in the more budget-friendly home and leisure generator market. 

The overall quality level has exceeded my expectations. And given that we are not huge fans of low-cost generators at saver tech, this shouldn’t be interpreted lightly. You also get a two-year warranty for your generator, which provides peace of mind.
